Lucía de Palau (b. 1992, Barcelona) is an artist using speculative fiction stories within installations, music, writing, live action and animation as tools for critical positioning, to generating alternative narratives.
The change of materials through time and stories behind it is another key element in her work. The poetic that entails, objects acting as holders in a state of transformation, changing bodies and the vulnerability behind it, are some of the reasons she works with those ideas.
Navigating through the poetics of materials and imaginary worlds, her work presents a playground where the characters of her stories show their experiences, thoughts, and ideas in fantasy scenarios where perception and expectations are continually challenged.
Those speculative spaces are an open door for generating alternative narratives outside the norm, giving life to different possibilities of care, body agency and community alliance. Becoming a place of queer resistance.
